Linux Mint 21.3 Beta out now with experimental Wayland support for Cinnamon

Quoting: Trias
Quoting: dorronI love Linux Mint, but I'm starting to feel like they are lagging behind with the kernel. I'm always having trouble updating to the latest one because of an old version of libc6...and that cannot be updated! (or at least I don't know how). Maybe someone can shed some light on it.
Quoting: tuubiThey're "lagging behind" just as much as Ubuntu LTS / HWE, by design. But if you want the latest stable kernel, I've found Xanmod's repository a reliable source. Currently on 6.6.5 here.

As tuubi said, they are following Ubuntu LTS here. And yes, using xanmod would be a good option in this case.

Or if it wouldn't work (or if you don't like using kernel with some additional modifications), another alternative would be using tuxinvader ppa - that's basically an Ubuntu non-LTS kernels compiled with packages available on LTS Ubuntu.

Thanks mate! Tried Tuxinvader and it worked flawlessly. You made me a huge discovery! Much appreciated!

Everything else is just...a perfect desktop distro IMO.

Steam Deck Beta and SteamOS Preview fix up some annoying issues

Quoting: scaine3.5.10 slightly broke my Steam Deck. After applying the update and doing the reboot, it sat at the "logging in" logo, spinning endlessly. I thought the damn thing was bricked, until I angrily pressed the Steam button and got the Steam "menu" popping up from the left-hand side. From there I only had "Login", "Settings", and "Power" options. Choosing "Login" did nothing, but "Settings" let me exit the Preview version and get my Steam Deck up and running again (after another reboot).

I'll give it another shot at upgrading over the weekend, but in a year of owning the device and participating in either beta or preview releases, this is the first time I've ever had an issue!

Same error here...same solution.

AMD driver update gets Red Dead Redemption 2 working better on Steam Deck / Linux

Quoting: FrawoSomeone found out that increasing the swap size prevents RDR 2 from crashing, and it also helped with the FPS:

I wonder if this will become obsolete after Mesa drivers are fixed...

I had to do this myself, since the update arrived in the middle of me playing it. I was getting crashes every 20 minutes or so, but with this fix it runs perfectly.
