Not only whales, but it also plays on FOMO (fear of missing out) which takes advantage of certain mindsets, and puts unfair pressure on parents (although neither Space Marine 2 nor this really target young children). It's scummy. And because it works, and the publishers make literally millions, they'll do it again. And again.

I hate to say it, but after purchasing this from their German site earlier in the year, I couldn't make the adjustment to using it. It's about 2 to 4 keys shy on most games I play. I thought that 10 buttons would be enough, but...

Guns/ability 1, 2, 3, 4
Run, crouch, jump
Interact (normally F, sometimes E)
Map (normally tab, or M in most games)
Inventory (normally I or maybe tab)
Escape/Menu
Special 1 (normally "q" in most games)
Spcial 2 (normally "e" in most games)
Grenade (normally G or H)

I'm already four buttons over, and I still need to tap the keyboard for voice-activation, or team-chat, or statistics, or whatever else you need. Some games do have less than 4 "gun" keys though, but of course, some have more (e.g. Helldivers 2 has five).

The quality of these units is superb and the satisfaction of the WASD movement is brilliant. I just needed more buttons.

I believe they're adding things like double-tapping to give more options, but the Linux tool I used back in March didn't have support for double-tapping, or indeed any kind of macros, so I was stuck having to move between the MoveMaster and keyboard quite frequently. In the end, it was just easier to keep using my keyboard.



I think they're also on the verge of bringing out their original MoveMaster companion, that adds another 8 buttons (or was it 10?). That might get me back into using mine.

Love the unit, but just can't use it with only those 10 buttons as it stands.

No surprises, I suppose. Focus Entertainment made over £3M when more than 160K people paid for the Space Marine 2 "early access". So Xbox game studios are wanting a slice of the same.

Focus wanted £25 more though, so it's a small mercy that this early access is "only" another £20.

I have several, otherwise very intelligent friends who paid the £25 for Space Marine 2 and claim to have no regrets - one justification they gave was that the extra £25 included other benefits beyond the early access to the game.

I'm no patient gamer, tbh, but I'll be damned at taking part in these kinds of FOMO-based cash-grabs.

I have no idea where this weird anger is coming from. I bought Prime for free Amazon deliveries, so, yeah, I was surprised to learn I now had access to a huge library of free games.

Sure, they're not really free in the truest sense, but no need to be so riled. I found the article helpful. Some won't. That's fine.

This project is incredible - I can't tell you how frustrating it was to mod Skyrim using Windows-only tools. I can't wait for them to support Skyrim, though, as it's one of the very few games I actually care about modding! I suspect that there's a fair bit of unpleasant legacy nonsense they'll have to deal with there though, so I'm not holding my breath!

I guess this is an incentive to play Cyberpunk again though, especially with mods like this out there!

Might be wrong, but I think some of these tools install outside of the game itself, adding themselves to the "add/remove software" tool in Windows, or whatever that's called these days.

So you install the game, it installs the kernel-based rootkit/spyware, you later uninstall the game, but the rootkit/spyware is still there, potentially still running at startup, until you remove it.

We Linux users have it lucky in that regard. We might still install the "rootkit/spyware" element in some cases, but because it's tied to Proton emulating (shut up pedants!) the Windows environment, when we stop the game, we also stop all the anti-cheat crap. In our cases, it only gets to run when the game is running.

Yeah, it's "free if you already have Prime". It's still worth calling out though, because a fair few of my friends had no idea that Prime Gaming was even a thing. I only found out about it myself when I linked my Amazon account to Twitch and all these notifications popped up. It's weird that they don't advertise it more aggressively.

Like Amazon send me a near-weekly email complaining that I have an "used Prime benefit" because I use Spotify and have never signed up for Amazon Music. But I didn't ever get any such reminders about Prime Gaming. Like I say, it's just weird.
