Steam has already what a second launcher like Ubisoft or...gives:
- DRM protection
- discussions
- achievements
- Steam workshop
- tchat
...
When you sell a game on Steam, editors should use Steam tools.

Quoting: LoudTechieQuoting: legluondunetIf only Steam had the courage to force Ubisoft and other video game publishers not to use their own launcher when selling their games on Steam, Steam being the launcher. I don't want a launcher in a launcher in a launcher...#inception It generates potential additional technical problems and it uses resources for nothing.
I'm really happy they don't.
I'm pretty sure that would be anti-competative and monopolistic behavior.
It costs resources, but it comes from a good place.

VI does not need only a remake, but it's a game to fully rebuild, the actual state is an unfinished project.

The best PS1 emulator, code is still available on Github, so we can still compile it from sources and dev still provides appimage and flatpak packages, so I don't think it will change a lot of things for end user like me.
I read dev comments but i still don't understand why he bothered to change licence...

GameCube and Wii emulator Dolphin getting an official Flatpak for Linux and Steam Deck

Ohhh nice tip! I didn't know that, probably because I've never needed it, but it's still good to know.

You can install it in your user with the --user option.

Dead format? All the emulators and others apps I use are available this days in Appimage format (and Flatpak too).
You still need a root password to install Flatpak applications, not with Appimage, that makes big difference.

QuoteI'm sorry to break it to you, but I think in the eyes of most Appimage is a dead format. It had it's place but has been supplanted by Flatpak or even Snap in combination with native app stores and, in extreme cases, distrobox.

But...they still not provide Appimage for stable or nightly builds:
https://fr.dolphin-emu.org/download/
The latest Appimage available on Appimagehub is two years old:
https://www.appimagehub.com/p/1567651/
However, you can now find easily unofficial Dolphin Appimage.
For me it's not a problem because I know how to compile it.
But for basic users, Flatpak and Appimage is a must to have.
And it's pleasant to just download and launch a program, without having bother to compile it, even for a Linux user.
Clearly! Developers have now standards on Linux (Flatpak, Proton) and they use it.

QuoteNice to see the Steam Deck continuing to have a positive impact for Linux users everywhere. Valve clearly made the right decision to support installing apps via Flatpak/Flathub.
